From the book “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective” by Randy Alcorn
Blessed Saturday everyone. Welcome to our week-ender of our devotions and I just praise the Lord for how He has been faithful all throughout the week. I mean, we all had our struggles we all had our difficulties but we all have our victories as well in Christ and so as we end our devotion, “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective”, we find ourselves looking at Psalm 42.
1As a deer pants for flowing streams,
Psalm 42:1-2 (ESV)
so pants my soul for you, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?
Sabi po ni Randy Alcorn, “We may imagine we want a thousand different things, but God is the One we really long for”, and I say amen to that. The reason for that is that there’s a void in every man’s heart that only God can fill. Sometimes we try to fill that up with possessions, relationships, achievements, pero we just find ourselves—if you would be very honest with ourselves—still longing for something, that we’re longing for someone.
1 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek You;
Psalm 63:1 (ESV)
my soul thirsts for You;
my flesh faints for You,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
25 Whom have I in heaven but You?
Psalm 73:25 (ESV)
And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides You.
I pray that tayo na nakasumpong ng kaligtasan sa Panginoon, would understand and would just be praising God for how He has filled our void up. In fact He has made us whole and that ano man ang mangyari sa atin, that we would never long for any more, because He completes us.
26 And after my skin has been thus destroyed,
Job 19:26-27 (ESV)
yet in my flesh I shall see God,
27 whom I shall see for myself,
and my eyes shall behold, and not another.
My heart faints within me!
