The Sure Hope of Resurrection | March 10, 2021

From the book “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective” by Randy Alcorn

Blessed day everyone, welcome po sa ating devotions and today we’ll be looking at John 11:25 and 1 Corinthians 15:55.

55 “O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”

1 Corinthians 15:55 (ESV)

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live.”

John 11:25 (ESV)

Definitely, we’ll be talking about our sure hope in the resurrection. Sabi po ni Randy Alcorn as we go back to his devotional: “In our society many people look to cosmetic surgeries implants and other methods to remodel their crumbling bodies. Maganda yung kanyang words na ginamit, we are indeed crumbling. Because of the fall the moment you were born you were one day closer to you, crumbling. Dahil ganu’n nga po ang kalakaran ng buhay. Sabi ng isang manunulat na nabasa ko, every day we are decaying. So sabing ganun dito, sa society natin maraming tao, lalo na yung mga may kaya, at tingin nila kailangan nilang gawin yun, they go to cosmetic surgeries and implants para i-remodel yung kanilang crumbling bodies. I like that adjective, crumbling bodies.

We hold to youthfulness with a white-knuckled grip. Ultimately it’s all in vain. Kasi nga lahat tayo tumatanda, and as much as we want to use any cosmetics or any surgery or anything that we take para pabagalin ang ating pagtanda at pagcrumble. It would be all in vain because we are all gonna grow old and we will have our bodies crumble. But the gospel promises us eternal health, beauty and happiness in the presence of our God and our spiritual family. It’s not ours now—but it will be in the resurrection.

In reference to the coming resurrection, Paul wrote, “But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently” (Romans 8:24-25, NIV).
