Humble Servant, Known by God | February 17, 2021

From the book “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective” by Randy Alcorn

Kumusta po kayo, welcome po sa ating devotions and today we will be looking at Mark 10 and Matthew 25. As we look at the humble servant.

45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Mark 10:45 (ESV)

21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

Matthew 25:21 (ESV)

Sabi po sa ating binabasang devotion, devotional material: “We say we want to be God’s servants and to serve others. Yet there’s nothing we resent more than being treated like servants.” That’s a good statement. Madalas sinasabi natin, ‘oh, we’re servants. We are here to serve’, kasi that’s what we’re called for. But, check natin ang hearts natin. Do we really want to be servants? Then why do we resent it when people treat us like servants? How dare you! Diba? Yun yung madalas nating naiisip, yun yung madalas nating naririnig sa ating mga bibig, bakit ganito ang trato sa atin? and yet we need to pause are we really desiring to be servants then why do we feel that way? Sabi rito, “May God give us the heart of a faithful servant who is first about God, second about others, and third about ourselves.”

God first, others second, and tayo na ang last. We need to check our hearts, when we say we are servants, when we say we wanted to serve, when we say we want to be in ministry or kung ano man ang ating ginagawa ngayon, na pinagkaloob sa atin ng Panginoon Diyos. We need to check ourselves, do we resent it? When we don’t get the “credit” that we think is due us? Dun nagkakatalo. Are we okay with being in the sidelights or do we really desire and crave to be in the limelight? “Scripture teaches that God will evaluate our service for Him on the present Earth to determine how we’ll serve Him on the New Earth. The humble servant will be put in charge of much, whereas the one who has lorded over others in the present world will have power taken away: “Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted” (Luke 14:11).”
