God’s Glory, Our Good | February 22, 2021

From the book “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective” by Randy Alcorn

Blessed day everyone, welcome po sa ating seventh week, ng ating daily devotions and today brings us to the Old Testament, Deuteronomy 30 and Proverbs 1.

19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live.

Deuteronomy 30:19 (ESV)

32 For the simple are killed by their turning away,
    and the complacency of fools destroys them;
33 but whoever listens to me will dwell secure
    and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.”

Proverbs 1:32-33 (ESV)

Strong words from the Word of God. Today, we’ll be looking at God’s glory, our good. How does that connect? Have you ever wondered before? Kasi ako nung bata-bata pa ko’ng mananamplataya, I feel like, I was asking myself, of course I did not verbalize this, kasi natatakot ako, baka tamaan ako ng kidlat eh. Ang inisip ko nun, sabi ko, bakit kaya lagi para sa kapurihan ng Diyos? Bakit para sa kapurihan ng Diyos? Why do we always need to do everything for God’s glory? Is there any good for me in glorifying God? and of course as I grow older, and grow deeper in the Word I saw that, right? And so let’s look at this devotional by Randy Alcorn, Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective. as we try to see how God’s glory is our good.

Satan has conned many Christians into a view of Christian life that makes us imagine God calls us to do things that won’t be good for us, while the unbelievers are out there having all the fun. In fact, anything done for God’s glory also works for our good. Choosing what is good and right will always be to our advantage. Wrongdoing sometimes appears to offer benefits, and doing right may seem to bring serious disadvantages. —Randy Alcorn

“Since man was made for the glory of God, he can never be what he was intended to be until his life is properly focused on the glory of God….So God’s glory does not detract from man’s life. Instead, His glory is the sun around which the whole of life must revolve if there is to be the light and life of God in our experience.” —Sinclair Ferguson
