From the book “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective” by Randy Alcorn
Blessed Wednesday everyone. Welcome po sa ating devotions and today is our third day of week number 10 ng ating daily devotions. As we continue on looking at our devotional written by Randy Alcorn, Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective, we will be looking at Mark 8 and Ephesians 6.
35 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.
Mark 8:35 (ESV)
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.
Ephesians 6:10 (ESV)
The Lord is saying that we should be willing and to the point of following Christ to lose our life for His sake in the gospel sake. And sabi po niya, we will then earn it, we will be gaining it. In Ephesians 6, as we go on, as we do that by God’s race we ought to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. So definitely, we’ll be looking at courage to follow Christ. Nowadays it’s so easy for people to say, I’m a follower of Christ, pero when push comes to shove and when the going gets rough, we would find out kung totoo talagang mananampalataya ni Kristo. Napansin ko, ito palang suot kong t-shirt, not a fan—a follower but not a fan. Sadly, there are many fans of Jesus, those who just love to look at His teachings, but if we look into his or her life, you’ll be asking, are they even following Christ? Today, we’ll be looking at the courage, kailangan natin ng katapangan, ng convictions as we follow Christ.
Sabi po ni Randy Alcorn, “It’s not always pleasant to talk about the things, God’s word says.” Tama yun, kasi the Word of God is like a double-edged sword, pierces and cuts to the core of our being. Yes, the Word of God is a like a balm of comfort. Para siyang gamot, na nakakapag soothe ng ating pakiramdam, it encourages us, it’s like a warm embrace. But again, the Word of God is like a sword that slays complacency and self-deception, right?
“It’s not always pleasant to talk about the things God’s Word says. When I meditate on Scripture, it’s very common for me to become uncomfortable about what I am reading.” Tama po yun, kasi nga ang Salita ng Diyos ay parang salamin. As we read it, hindi tayo binobola ng Salita ng Diyos. The Word of God is the truth and the truth is not sugar-coated.
