From the book “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective” by Randy Alcorn
Blessed day everyone, it’s a Wednesday and I’m happy that you could join us today for our daily devotions. As we, by God’s grace, trying to have a daily dose of eternal perspective. At ngayong araw, we will be talking about true repentance. And why are we supposed to or why should we discussing repentance and how does that relate to eternal perspective? Kung hindi natin pag-uusapan, if we would not have a biblical understanding of repentance then that would mean na wala tayong pakialam sa kung anong klaseng lakad meron tayo or ano ang magiging hitsura ng lakad natin sa dakong ito? We said, we are just passers-by, we said that we are in the world, yet we are not of the world. And our true citizenship is in Heaven and we long for eternity. We long for us to be with God. But, right here, right now, alam natin na, in as much as we love God, we still would fail. Hindi po ba? Meron ba sa ating hindi nagkasala? No one of us could claim that. And since alam natin yun, we need to have an understanding, a good grasp of true repentance.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
Psalm 51:17 (ESV)
a broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.
19 Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, 20 that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus.
Acts 3:19-20 (ESV)
So kailangan natin pag-usapan, kailangan natin malaman, we need to have a biblical understanding. A good grasp of true and genuine repentance as we are still here on earth, because we know that we would fail, we know that we would sin. And therefore, kailangan natin, dahil wala pa ang Panginoong Diyos at hindi pa Siya dumarating, and we know that He is coming back, right here, right now we need to know how to live our lives knowing that we would fail, knowing that we would sin, therefore we need to have an understanding of repentance.
Ang ating journey papuntang eternity would be so sweet if we would find ourselves embracing and understanding genuine and true repentance when we fail.
