From the book “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective” by Randy Alcorn
Blessed Wednesday everyone, welcome po sa ating devotions. And today we will be looking at Psalm 86 and Job 41.
10 For You are great and do wondrous things;
Psalm 86:10 (ESV)
You alone are God.
11 “Who has first given to Me, that I should repay him?
Job 41:11 (ESV)
Whatever is under the whole heaven is Mine.”
These passages speaks of the sovereignty of God that He is ruling over all therefore we will be looking at the One who is in charge. Pagbalik po natin ngayon sa ating devotional: Seeing the Unseen, it is very important for us to have a daily dose of eternal perspective to understand that we are not sovereign, that we are not in control, God is sovereign and the One who is in charge.
Sabing ganun ni Randy Alcorn: “We are not the cosmic center: God is.” Most of the times we think that the whole world is revolving or the whole universe is revolving around us. Therefore, ang mindset talaga natin ay laging, ako-ako-ako! But if we understand that we are just a tiny, tiny speck in the entire universe, and then God is the One who is in control. In fact, He holds the universe, and in each of us, in His gravity– then therefore that would change our perspective. When we make ourselves the center of gravity, we attempt to hold God in orbit around us. We may not say that, pero our disposition speaks volumes. How we think, how we perceive ourselves to be the one that should be the center of attraction then we draw false conclusions including whenever we don’t get our way it means God isn’t really there or God is against me, or God may be making a mistake. God is the Source of all good and the standard by which good is measured, okay? We may not like what God does, but we’re in no position to accuse Him of wrongdoing, di ba? Kasi isipin natin mga kapatid, kung ang tingin natin sa atin umiikot ang buong sansinukob o buong universe, therefore we would be entitled. You would be demanding, you would be offended easily kapag nasagasaan ka, yung pride mo, right? And then we accuse others and at times we accuse God when things go wrong.
Every breath He gives us is a gift. That alone should put us in our right place. But if you want to hear Him say He cares about you and sympathizes with you, listen to what He says to His people: Psalm 103:13 “As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear Him.”
