The Audience of One | February 20, 2021

From the book “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective” by Randy Alcorn

Good morning everyone welcome po sa ating weekender ng ating devotion as we go back to our devotional, we will be looking at 2 Corinthians 5:9 at Colossians 3.

9 So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.

2 Corinthians 5:9 (ESV)

23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

Colossians 3:23-24 (ESV)

As we were reminded of these truths, alam natin na ang ating pinaglilingkuran ay ang Panginoong Diyos. Our aim is to please Him and no one else, we are not men pleasers, but we please God alone. At ang ating title ngayon, The Audience of One. We only have an audience of one, and Diyos laman ang ating pinaluluguran. Right?

We should do what we believe pleases our Lord, regardless of how it pans out in opinion polls. Minsan ang mga ginagawa natin para sa Panginoong Diyos lalo sa Kanyang Iglesiya with regards to His ministry, at times we are so scared of doing what is prescribed in Scripture because we are scared of what other people would say, right? Sana hindi po, regardless of how it pans out, regardless of how unpopular it may be, we should please the Lord and Him alone. That includes loving others and giving radically, ministering to the down and out, addressing addictions, and saying we think it’s wrong to kill children of all ages, including the unborn. Well sa ating bansa hindi masyado pero in other countries especially the western countries, takot na takot ang napakarami sa iisipin ng iba tungkol sa abortion or sa same-sex marriage because people are thinking about the opinions of others but no, we should be thinking about what pleases God, right? Ang Panginoong Diyos lang.

These things that would be unpopular like, speaking out the truth, living for God, upholding the inerrancy of Scripture—the sufficiency of Scripture—standing up for the rights of the unborn, standing up for the sanctity of marriage, we should do that because we aim to please no one else but God. We do such things not seeking the approval of our culture but of our King, entrusting ourselves “to Him who judges justly” (1 Peter 2:23).

Paul said, “If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10).
