From the book “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective” by Randy Alcorn
Hello everyone welcome to our last day of our second week, as we wrap up our devotion for today, for this week, we will be looking at Colossians 3:16. As we go back to this devotional, “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective.”
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Colossians 3:16 (ESV)
Now, ang sabi po rito ni Randy Alcorn, “We should come to God’s Word to examine truth claims.” Now, let’s pause for a while, with regards to having an eternal perspective, Having a thinking that is heavenly o being spiritually minded, hindi po pwedeng i-divorce po ‘yun from God’s Word. We can’t say that we are faithful followers of Christ, that we are heavenly minded, that we are thinking about eternity, without God’s Word. Kaya maganda yung ating binasa, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly”. Hindi lang basahin, hindi lang buksan, “dwell”. That means, that there’s a form or a picture of residents there. At hindi lang basta, residing there, it should be residing in you richly.
…Minsan, i-assess natin, gaano tayo katagal sa Facebook? Gaano tayo katagal sa Twitter? O Instagram? Gaano katagal tayo sa YouTube? Kung titignan natin, mas matagal ba tayo duon? or are we spending more time in God’s Word? Kasi, that is important. We’re not saying at all that those are in and of it of themselves, bad. Because say we use Facebook to reach out to you, to check on our friends and family di ba? Pero as people who are eternally minded or heavenly minded dapat hindi natin hinahayaan na, ang mga bagay na ito ay ang nagdidikta sa atin or nagcoconsume ng ating oras, or most of our time. Because if we would not be very careful then we would see, hinuhulma na tayo ng mundo, rather than the Word of God.
If we are Christians, if we are followers of Christ, if we are heavenly minded, if we have the eternal perspective, therefore, we assess everything through the lens of Scripture.
11 Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.
Acts 17:11 (NIV)
