Pursuing the Right Perspective | March 22, 2021

From the book “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective” by Randy Alcorn

Blessed day everyone. Welcome po sa ating 11th week ng daily devotions for 2021 and since this is day one I also want to inform you that this is also the last day of our devotional material. Last day sa ating pagtingin sa sinulat ni Randy Alcorn, “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective” because it’s only for 60 days and I’m just very thankful to the Lord kung paano tayo po ay nakatapos ng books of the Bible in our studies, sa atin pong pag-aaral sa pulpits sa church and our bible studies and we have finished two devotional materials. And that’s just amazing for me so for day one let me share with you the ending of our devotional material, “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective. We would go to Colossians 3 and 2 Peter 3 for our perspectives from the Word of God.

2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

Colossians 3:2 (ESV)

14 Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.

2 Peter 3:14 (ESV)

So definitely, we are ending itong ating devotions, seeing the unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective with this pursuing the right perspective, right? Sabi ni Randy Alcorn: “Jesus calls His followers citizens of Heaven.” And that’s true, if you’re a follower of Christ, if you’re a born again believer, if you have surrendered your life to Jesus Christ in repentant faith, confess your sins and repentant of them and embraced in plac e your full trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ, we are citizens of Heaven. We are here on earth pero ang totoong bahay natin, ang totoong tahanan natin ay sa langit.

“When we think more about dinner out tomorrow than the banquet on the New Earth with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, we lose sight of Heaven and surrender the present joy that comes in anticipating it.” Ang galing nuh? Sabi niya, again, don’t get me wrong we are here on earth so therefore we have earthly things that we should be pondering upon. That we have earthly concerns like taking care of our families, earning a living and most importantly is to walk in a manner worthy of the calling by what you were called. Living a good testimony for people to see as we proclaim Jesus Christ. Pero ang sabi niya, when we think more about dinner out tomorrow, or when we think about earthly things, then we we lose sight of what’s to come which is more glorious.

Sabi niya, “When we think more about dinner out tomorrow than the banquet on the New Earth with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, we lose sight of Heaven and surrender the present joy that comes in anticipating it. If we are so focused with superficial things, I’m not saying that dining out with your loved ones is not good, it is good (pero ngayong nga hindi good yun, kasi nga limitado tayo). But what I’m saying is that, as we ponder upon the words of Randy Alcorn we surrender the present joy. Why is he saying that? Bakit present joy, bakit hindi niya sinabi na, kung iniisip natin yung dinner natin mamayang gabi, paglabas natin, kunyari if we have a date? Then more than the banquet that we will be in together with the the stalwarts of faith: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, right? and Paul will be there, he said we surrender the present joy, yung joy na yun. If we are so mindful of other things special they may be, more than the glorious things that we will have. Then mawawala yung anticipation, mawawala yung joy sa ating heart as we are excited and joyfully anticipate and look forward to that blessed hope.

“We must fix our eyes and things that, for the present remain invisible. Immediately upon leaving this world, all who know Christ will gain the right perspective. The good news is we don’t have to wait until then. We can and should live now with the perspective that will be ours one minute after we die.”

“If you’re going to spend the next lifetime living in Heaven, why not spend this lifetime anticipating and preparing for Heaven?”
