From the book “Truth For Today: A Daily Touch of God’s Grace” by John F. MacArthur
Do not be conceited. - Romans 12:16
Conceited, self-serving Christians are serious contradiction. If we would follow Christ we must be submissive to God’s will as contained in His Word. Any confidence you have in yourself, your own wisdom, or your natural talents must be subordinated to the Lord’s commands.
In no way should you be conceited, or in any respect consider yourself better than fellow believers. Instead God wants you to accept and embrace every member of the body of Christ: “Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others” (Philippians 2:4).
