Giving Our Burdens to Him | February 24, 2021

From the book “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective” by Randy Alcorn

Blessed-blessed day everyone, welcome po sa ating daily devotions. Today is a Wednesday, and today we’ll be looking at Psalm 55 and Psalm 62.

22 Cast your burden on the LORD,
    and He will sustain you;
He will never permit
    the righteous to be moved.

Psalm 55:22 (ESV)

For God alone my soul waits in silence;
    from Him comes my salvation.

Psalm 62:1 (ESV)

Encouraging words from the Word of God. Today we’ll be looking at and we’ll be discussing about giving our burdens to Him. We all have burdens, anong dapat nating gawin sa ating mga burdens? We lay it down at God’s feet because He cares for us. So, as we go back to our material today, Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective.

Randy Alcorn as he writes, “Sometimes, in moments of pride, we need to fear God and repent. Other times, in moments of brokenness and despair, we need to just bathe in His grace, and see His smile and hear Him say, “Well done…Enter into the joy of your master” (Matthew 25:21,23). We need to cast our cares upon Him, because He cares for us and come to Him when we’re weary and heavy laden and He will give us rest.” And again, truths that speak volumes to our hearts. We have burdens and these burdens are talagang burdensome, kaya nga burden, nakakapagod. The worries, the cares, and I truly praise the Lord that we have these truths, we have these words that we read in Psalm, we have Peter encouraging us to cast our cares upon the Lord.

Then Randy Alcorn gives us a personal testimony, “I learned years ago that I have to say no to the great majority of things I’m asked to do, so I’m available to say yes to those few God wants me to do.” That’s beautiful, maybe the reason why we’re burdensome, maybe the reason why it’s tiring is that, we have been keeping ourselves busy with those things that may be good, but may not be the things that God wants us to keep ourselves busy with. Sabi niya, he has learned to say no to the great majority of things that he’s asked to do, but now for him to have the time to say yes to the few things that God wants him to do. “Jesus calls upon us to carry our crosses yet paradoxically promises a light burden and rest for our souls. If the burdens usually are heavy and our souls aren’t at rest we’re missing something. God is calling us to lay our burdens upon Him, but we are called to carry our crosses. Therefore there would be some weight on it, so as we cast our burdens upon God that doesn’t mean that we would not have some weight on us. But ang beauty po dun is that, we know that God is helping us. In fact, God is the one carrying the burden for us, carrying the weight for us, and that’s wonderful. Kasi kung ang gusto lang natin, ‘Lord, tanggalin Niyo po ito’, tapos wala ng burden, wala ng pain, wala ng weight, then we’re missing the point. We’re missing the opportunity to be trusting Him and sa ating pinagdadaanan siguro ngayon, in your life, in your family, in the church’s life, yeah, we cast all our burdens upon Him because we know that God would not let the righteous be moved. But we still feel that weight and that’s beautiful because that makes us more dependent on the Lord. At sabi naman ng Panginoon Diyos di ba? Ang promise is that, na hindi ganun kabigat. Yes we understand that there’s weight but we have that confidence and therefore it’s not that burdensome, it’s not that heavy.
