Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
For the past few days there were “unofficial” reports in the social media about the Corona virus. Some were accurate, some were not, some were exaggerated, while others were downplayed.
But the President has issued an official statement already and we need to adhere to it with a sense of objectivity and of course with caution.
We understand the situation is serious and it caused people to panic even those of us who are in Christ. It is normal reaction but let us remind all of us of these biblical truths:
The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Psalm 34:7
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. Psalm 34:17
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way. Psalm 46:1-2
Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fail. Psalm 55:22
When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me? Psalm 56:3-4
These and much more from Scripture should drive how we act and react to the current situation. God is sovereign and in His great wisdom this may be the best time for all of us to shine forth as a source of hope and peace. Let us therefore be more prayerful, let us be in the Word, and to be ready to share the gospel when God provides the opportunity for us. Let us then be cautious but in faith trust Him and point people to Him. Remember God is in control.
Thanks and God bless us all.
