A Theology of Laughter | February 11, 2021

From the book “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective” by Randy Alcorn

Good morning everyone welcome po sa ating devotion. And today brings us to a beautiful chapter or a beautiful devotional and we would look at three passages Job 8, Luke 6, and Matthew 25:23.

21 He will yet fill your mouth with laughter,
    and your lips with shouting.

Job 8:21 (ESV)

21 “Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied. “Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.

Luke 6:21 (ESV)

23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

Matthew 25:23 (ESV)

So, ang ating ididiscuss ngayon as we try to have a daily dose of eternal perspective is a theology of laughter. Baka sabihin niyo, ah, theology of laughter? Yeah, and that’s what we’re going to be looking at today.

Sabi rito ni Randy Alcorn, “Often, we think of ourselves as fun-loving and of God as a humorless killjoy.” Ganun yung pananaw natin, ‘di ba? Parang tayo ang, we are fun-loving and yet we see God as teka lang, He doesn’t want us to have fun. “But we’ve got it backward,” sabi ni Randy Alcorn, “we are the boring ones, not God. Did we invent wit, humor, and laughter?” Those are good questions di ba? Kasi, totoo naman talaga na meron tayong pananaw na ang Diyos sobrang seryoso. But then again, if we ask these questions, who invented wit, humor and laughter? Tayo ba? No. God did. We’ll never begin to exhaust God’s sense of humor and His love for pleasure filled joy.
