From the book “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective” by Randy Alcorn
Blessed Tuesday po sa inyong lahat. Today brings us to a passage, one of my favorite passages in fact, two of them, Philippians 3 and Psalm 16.
10 That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and may share His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death.
Philippians 3:10 (ESV)
11 You make known to me the path of life;
Psalm 16:11 (ESV)
in Your presence there is fullness of joy;
at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Today we’ll be discussing a passion to know the King of kings. As we go back to our daily devotions, “Seeing the Unseen: A Daily Dose of Eternal Perspective.” How do we live out our lives while we’re here hoping for the return of the King? Itong pag-uusapan natin ngayon yung, are we passionate to know Jesus more? We can never say that we know Him already. None of us can say that we have arrived at that state or at that position wherein, ‘Oh! I know Him pretty well.’ So therefore dapat tayo may passion sa pagnanais na makilala si Kristo Hesus.
“We tend to be passionate about things that don’t matter, fanatics and fans about what won’t last. But we are afraid to look like fanatics for Jesus. We seem determined to portion Jesus out in acceptable portions, unwilling to appear fools for Christ. John Wesley was asked about the key to his ministry. He said, “I ask God to set me on fire and let people watch me burn.” And that’s actually a figure of speech of course. Maganda yung sinabi niya eh. But think about it, I mean, there are certain aspects of our life that we are so very fanatic about, that we are so passionate about. I don’t know a lot of things, but if we assess everything, yung mga bagay na very passionate tayo about, do they have eternal value? Minsan takot na takot nga naman talaga tayo makita kung paano tayo nagniningas para sa Panginoong Diyos. Kung papaano nag-aalab ang ating pag-ibig para sa Kanya. It seems like we would rather be seen as a die-hard fanatic, a die-hard this and that, but can the same be said of our faith and love for Christ? Maganda yung sinabi ni John Wesley, he asks God to set him on fire and let people watch him burn.
Dalangin ko ganu’n tayo. I mean, that’s why we need daily devotions, daily prayer before we start our day to ask the Lord, “Lord, help me love You enough that people would see that, and just be drawn by that love that You have for me translated in how much I love You.”
